Privacy and your information
Visiting a page about a genetic condition is itself sensitive. Here is precisely what we do and do not collect.
The short version
This website does not ask you to identify yourself, does not set advertising cookies, and does not sell or share anything. The only point at which you give us information is if you choose to fill in the join form — and that is entirely optional.
When you browse this site
The pages here are static files. We do not run advertising trackers or social media pixels on them.
Two things do involve a third party:
- Hosting. The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes standard technical request data such as IP address and browser type in order to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
- Fonts. Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers when a page loads.
When you join the community
The join form is a Google Form. Anything you type into it is stored in Google's systems and is visible to the volunteers running Cure SCA-12. We use it only to contact you about SCA-12 community updates and opportunities.
We will not sell your details, share them with pharmaceutical companies or researchers without asking you first, or use them for anything unrelated to this community. If you want your details removed, email info@sca12.org and we will delete them.
Please do not enter medical details, test results, or clinical history into the form. It is not a secure medical record system and we have no need for that information.
If you share your story
Anything you send us is treated as private until you explicitly agree to it being published. You decide whether your name appears, how much detail is included, and you can ask us to remove it at any time afterwards without giving a reason.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has submitted information through the form, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email info@sca12.org.
Changes to this page
If what we collect changes, this page changes with it, and the review date below is updated.
